Belt context

Where this game sits in the lineage

Baylor came in 287 days into reign #285, which began with a win over Kansas State, with 3 defenses already behind it; this was its 4th defense. Baylor went on to defend it 8 more times before Oklahoma State took it on November 23, 2013, 371 days after the reign began.

For Wofford this was its first shot at the belt; it had never held the belt. It still hasn’t; this remains its only belt game.

This is the only time Baylor and Wofford have met with the belt on the line.

Recap

Baylor's explosive offense was on full display in this belt defense, with the Bears scoring touchdowns on five of their first six possessions. Bryce Petty orchestrated a dominant passing attack, connecting with receivers early and often, including a 41-yard strike to Clay Fuller and a 27-yard scoring pass to Antwan Goodley in the first quarter. The Baylor defense was equally suffocating, with Chris McAllister returning an interception for a touchdown just before halftime to essentially put the game away. While Wofford managed a field goal in the third quarter, Baylor's second-half onslaught continued with explosive plays like Seth Russell's 70-yard touchdown pass to Corey Coleman, allowing the Bears to cruise to the 66-point victory and retain the belt.

Glasco Martin's 8-yard touchdown rush to open the scoring set the tone for Baylor's relentless offensive attack
Chris McAllister's pick-six late in the first quarter gave Baylor a commanding lead and demoralized Wofford's offense
Seth Russell's 70-yard touchdown pass to Corey Coleman in the third quarter exemplified Baylor's continued offensive firepower in the second half
