What if one game had gone the other way?
Every belt game since 1869 is below. Flip any of them — the loser wins instead — and the page replays the belt rule from that day forward across all 109,220 games on record: whoever beats the holder takes it, ties stay put. New holders, new reigns, and either a day when history heals itself or a different champion today. Flip as many as you like; the link remembers them.
The rule is the real one: whoever beats the holder takes the belt, a tie stays with the holder, every game
counts. A flip makes the loser the winner (a flipped tie hands the belt to the challenger); the replay then follows the
new holder’s actual schedule, game by game, on the same record the rest of the site is built from. Reality holds
until your first flip, and “history heals itself” the first day both lines have the same holder — from
then on they are identical, because the games are.
