Recap

UCF claimed the College Football Belt with a thrilling 39-31 overtime victory against BYU in a back-and-forth affair that saw both teams trade scores throughout regulation and into a fifth quarter. BYU struck first with a Bachmeier-to-Kasper touchdown pass in the first quarter, but UCF dominated the second quarter with three straight scores—a Chambers rushing TD, a Stone field goal, and another Chambers TD with just four seconds left in the half—to take a 20-14 halftime lead. BYU answered back in the third quarter to tie the game at 21-21, but UCF regained control with a Jenkins rushing touchdown to lead 28-21 heading into the fourth. The final quarter saw BYU's Dunn kick a field goal to make it 28-24, and both teams went scoreless down the stretch with UCF missing a late field goal attempt. In overtime, both teams scored touchdowns—Bachmeier connected with Glasker for BYU's go-ahead score, but Jenkins found Derry in the end zone for UCF's championship-clinching touchdown to secure the belt.
