Recap

Kansas State's defense dominated Oklahoma State's turnover-prone offense to retain the belt with a 44-30 victory in Manhattan. The Wildcats jumped out to an early lead behind John Hubert's two short touchdown runs in the first quarter and second quarter, while Oklahoma State struggled with five turnovers that repeatedly stalled their drives. The most damaging sequence came in the second quarter when Allen Chapman returned two Wes Lunt interceptions for touchdowns, including a 29-yard pick-six that essentially put the game out of reach. Despite Oklahoma State's passing attack gaining 417 yards, their inability to protect the football and convert third downs (3-12) proved fatal against a Kansas State team that controlled time of possession 37:40 to 21:57.
