Belt context

Where this game sits in the lineage

Louisville came in 8 days into reign #329, which began with a win over Miami, with no defenses yet; this was its first defense. Louisville went on to defend it 1 more time before California took it on November 8, 2025, 22 days after the reign began.

For Boston College this was its 9th shot at the belt; it had never held the belt. It still hasn’t: 9 attempts in all, every one of them a loss or a tie.

This is the only time Boston College and Louisville have met with the belt on the line.

Recap

Louisville's defense and explosive rushing attack proved too much for Boston College in this belt defense, as the Cardinals dominated the first half to build a commanding lead. After Boston College kicked a field goal to open the game, Louisville responded with a touchdown drive capped by Marlon Moss's 1-yard plunge, then unleashed a devastating second quarter featuring a 73-yard Isiah Brown run, two more Moss touchdown runs, and a 62-yard Brown scoring rush that put the game out of reach at 38-10 by halftime. Boston College mounted comebacks in the second half with touchdown passes to K. Chudzinski and J. Franklin, but Louisville's defense forced crucial turnovers—including an interception by K. Perry in the fourth quarter—and a field goal from C. Ranvier sealed the defense and the belt.

Isiah Brown's 73-yard rushing touchdown setup in Q1 to establish Louisville's early dominance
Louisville's three-touchdown second quarter (Moss rushing TD, Brown 62-yard rushing TD, and a second Moss TD) that created an insurmountable 38-10 halftime lead
Boston College's third quarter touchdown pass to K. Chudzinski cutting the deficit to 38-17, showing the Eagles wouldn't quit despite the deficit
Louisville's turnover forced by A. Watts and K. Perry's fourth quarter interception that sealed the victory and belt retention
