Recap
TCU dominated Texas from start to finish in Fort Worth, with quarterback Trevone Boykin putting on a passing clinic to keep the belt firmly around the Horned Frogs' waist. Texas struggled immediately, surrendering a safety on their opening drive and then watching Boykin torch their defense with a series of devastating touchdown passes, including three scores to KaVontae Turpin (13, 49, and 50 yards) and two to Josh Doctson (15 and 29 yards) that put TCU up 42-0 by halftime. The Longhorns' offensive struggles were on full display with only 313 total yards and a turnover in the first quarter when Jerrod Heard's pass was picked off by Nick Orr, while Texas also missed two field goal attempts in the second quarter. TCU's defense held firm throughout, and though Texas managed a late touchdown to Tyrone Swoopes in the fourth quarter, the damage had long since been done in what amounted to a complete dismantling.
- Safety on Texas's opening drive putting TCU up 2-0 and setting the tone for dominance
- Three touchdown passes from Boykin to KaVontae Turpin (13, 49, 50 yards) establishing the Frogs as overwhelming favorites
- Nick Orr's forced fumble recovery from Jerrod Heard early in the first quarter stopping Texas's momentum
- TCU's four touchdown passes in the first quarter alone demonstrating complete offensive superiority
