The top-ranked, 10-0 Florida Gators of coach Urban Meyer welcomed the 3-7 Florida International Golden Panthers of coach Mario Cristobal to The Swamp & promptly sent the Sun Belt conference team home with a 62-3 loss in their first Belt game.  Gators' All-SEC QB Tim Tebow threw for 2 touchdowns & rushed for another while the Florida defense held Florida International's offense to just 153 yards of total offense as the Gators rolled to the easy win.  On the opening drive of the game, Florida's All-SEC LB Brandon Spikes intercepted Golden Pathers' QB Paul McCall & returned the pick 40 yards for the Gators first score.  After forcing a punt of Florida International's next possession, Tebow essentially ended the game with a 55-yard touchdown run around left end giving Florida a 14-0 lead with 9:18 left in the 1st quarter.  The Gators opened the 2nd quarter with a 9-play, 66-yard scoring drive with Tebow flipping a shovel pass to RB Chris Rainey who carried the final 27 yards for a 21-0 lead.  The 28-0 lead came as Rainey took an option pitch from Tebow 22 yards for another score & Florida's RB Jeff Demps got in the end zone on a 3-yard touchdown run with 1:38 left in the half.  The Golden Panthers' only points came when PK Dustin Rivest kicked a 37-yard field goal just before intermission but the Gators had a 35-3 advantage.  Tebow opened the 2nd half with an 18-yard touchdown pass to WR Riley Cooper; it was Tebow's final appearance of the game but back-up QB John Brantley was just as effective.  Brantley threw touchdown passes of 20 yards to WR Omarius Hines, 16 yards to WR Justin Williams, & 31 yards to WR Frankie Hammond as the Florida back-ups got a chance to show their skills.  Tebow finished with 215 yards passing with 2 touchdowns as well as 102 yards rushing with a score.  Brantley added 146 yards passing with 3 touchdowns in less than 2 quarters of action while Florida International's McCall threw for 134 yards with an interception.  Florida finished the season 13-1, ranked 3rd nationally while the Golden Panthers finished 3-9.  Florida International has not played for The Belt again.
