The 3-2 Auburn Tigers of coach Tommy Tuberville welcome the 3-1 Vanderbilt Commodores with coach Bobby Johnson.  Auburn wore special uniforms to commemorate their 1957 National Championship team, then the Tigers went out & played like national champions.  Auburn's QB Brandon Cox led the Tigers to 4 touchdowns in the 1st half while the defense held Vanderbilt to just 219 total yards in the game as Auburn retained The Belt with a 35-7 win.  The Tigers overcame 12 penalties but their ground game, which amassed 238 yards, was too much for the Commodores.  Auburn's opening drive went 80 yards in 9 plays with RB Ben Tate scoring the touchdown on a 4-yard run.  After the Tigers' defense forced a punt from Vanderbilt, Tate highlighted the next drive with a 44-yard run.  Cox threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to WR Rodgeriqus Smith to cap the 74-yard drive giving Auburn a 14-0 lead late in the 1st quarter.  A short punt from the Commodores helped the next Tigers' drive.  It took only 4 plays to go 51 yards on a drive that featured RB Mario Fannin.  Fannin caught an 8-yard pass on the opening play of the drive, was held for no gain on the next play, then broke loose for a 21-yard gain to the Vanderbilt 22-yard line as the 2nd quarter started.  The touchdown came on a 22-yard run by Fannin giving Auburn a 21-0 lead.  Any hope the Commodores had of rallying probably died when the Tigers drove 92 yards late in the quarter.  Cox threw for 76 yards on the drive & the touchdown came on a 17-yard run by RB Brad Lester as Auburn took a 28-0 lead to intermission.  Early in the 3rd quarter, Tigers' CB Patrick Lee intercepted Vanderbilt's back-up QB Mackenzi Adams & returned it to the Commodores' 10-yard line.  Lester carried twice for 5 yards each time & was in the end zone for a 35-0 lead.  Vanderbilt scored with just 4:57 left in the game as RB Cassen Jackson-Garrison capped a 15-play, 91-yard drive with a 1-yard touchdown run for the final points.  Cox finished with 165 yards passing completing 14 of 17 pass attempts with a touchdown & an interception.  Three Commodores' quarterbacks combined to throw for 87 yards with an interception.  The Commodores finished the season 5-7 while Auburn finished the season 9-4, ranked 15th nationally.  Vanderbilt would play for The Belt again in 2009.
