The 17th ranked, 3-0 Kansas State Wildcats of coach Bill Snyder traveled to Lincoln to meet the 3rd ranked, 3-0 Nebraska Cornhuskers of coach Tom Osborne.  Nebraska’s All-Big XII RB Ahman Green rushed for 193 yards with 4 touchdowns & the Blackshirts defense held the Wildcats to 98 yards rushing as the Cornhuskers rolled to a 56-26 victory.  Green finished the 10-play, 80-yard opening drive with a 25-yard touchdown run before Kansas State responded with a 1-yard touchdown run by RB Eric Hickson.  The highlight of the Wildcats' drive was a 46-yard pass from QB Michael Bishop to WR Everett Burnett to the Nebraska 1-yard line.  The Cornhuskers’ blocked the extra-point attempt by Kansas State's All-Big XII PK Martin Gramatica leaving the score 7-6.  Cornhuskers' PK Kris Brown connected on a 31-yard field goal just before the end of the quarter giving Nebraska a 10-6 lead.  Brown’s 32-yard field goal was set-up when Nebraska's S Eric Warfield intercepted Bishop & returned the ball to the Kansas State 16-yard line.  Cornhuskers' WR Bobby Newcombe returned a punt to the Kansas State 43-yard line that set-up a 4-yard touchdown run by QB Scott Frost pushing the Nebraska lead to 20-6 as the teams headed to intermission.  Green erupted in the 3rd quarter scoring on runs of 7, 59, & 50 yards as the Cornhuskers pushed the lead to 41-6 with 5:30 left in the 3rd quarter.  Hickson got the Wildcats back on the board with his second touchdown, this one on a 13-yard touchdown run late in the quarter, but the Cornhuskers still led 41-12 as the teams entered the 4th quarter.  Cornhuskers' Jay Sims scored for Nebraska on a 5-yard touchdown run & Kansas State got a 4-yard touchdown run by Bishop midway through the final period.  Cornhuskers’ CB Joe Walker intercepted Bishop & returned it 71 yards for a touchdown making the score Nebraska 54 Kansas State 20.  The Blackshirts recorded a safety when the Wildcats fumbled the ball out of their end zone before Bishop found WR Darnell McDonald with 0:49 left on a 21-yard touchdown pass to finish the scoring.  Frost finished with 98 yards rushing & 94 yards passing for the Cornhuskers while the multi-talented Bishop was held to 14 yards rushing with 162 yards passing with a touchdown as well as 2 interceptions for Kansas State.  Nebraska finished the season 13-0; Big XII Champions, ranked 2nd nationally while the Wildcats finished 11-1 & ranked 8th nationally.  Kansas State has not played for The Belt again.
